"Where there is no vision, the people perish..." (Prov. 29:18).

Vision can be defined as the sense of sight, the power to see or to perceive by imagination, or something seen in a dream. It can be a supernatural idea from God, or it can be a goal that you set for yourself. But one thing is clear: If you do not have a vision, you're not going to have any success in life.

When I was in high school, I used to run track. Back in those days, I could run the 100-yard dash in 10 seconds flat (the world record was 9.8!). I could cover some ground in a hurry!

But even though I was considered to be a top sprinter, I knew I had to build up more strength in my legs and increase my wind capacity in order to stay on top. So I worked on accomplishing those things.

When practice was over and my teammates were taking their showers, I'd take another 30 minutes and run a series of 220s. When the others had finished for the night, I continued to train and practice. Why? Because I had a goal in mind - to win first place in all of my events!

Now whether you realize it or not, everyone is dominated by vision, both spiritually and naturally. You are either looking toward something - making the proper confessions and doing the things that will get you to your goal - or you're looking back at how good things used to be.

Well, God does not particularly care about using people who are constantly looking back. Remember what happened to Lot's wife when she looked back? She became a chunk of salt standing beside the road (Gen. 19:26)!

No, God is interested in your accomplishing something. He wants you to be successful.

You see, whatever vision you get ahold of - that's what pushes or drives you forward to achieve your goal. That's why you must have a vision for something that is out in the future instead of always looking back. For example, if you're sick, you have to have a vision of yourself being well, not getting sicker. If you're in need, you have to envision yourself with all of your needs met, not with more needs. You have to see yourself as you want to be.

I'm talking about having a vision for your life. Maybe you had a vision for your life once, but it has become dimmed or stifled by adverse situations. Then I encourage you today to begin looking to Christ for all of your answers. It doesn't matter what your circumstances may be. Quit looking at everything around you, and begin to fasten your eyes on Jesus!

Maybe God has spoken to your heart about some things you're to do, or you just have a personal goal you want to accomplish in life. That's good. Stir up that vision, and let it dominate your life so that it invigorates and stimulates you to pursue your goal. Then start making the proper confessions and commitments that will help you attain that vision.

You see, it's not enough to just have a vision; you also have to become committed to it. If there is no commitment to the vision, then there will be no success.

How do you stay committed to the vision? You keep your eyes on your goal, you get the Word of God in your mouth, and then you go for the gold!

Friend, I want you to know that you can be a success according to the Word of God - when you have vision for your life!
