Opportunities arise every day for those who have eyes to see and ears to hear. The stock market will always go up and down, but money is still being made every day. However, don't wait for the perfect opportunity to come your way; you've got to actively seek out what you wish to accomplish.

You have to take what you know and do something with it!

Jesus told the folks to go and wait in the upper room and that the comforter would come, but He also instructed his disciples and followers to seek, ask, and knock.

Always Hunting
We are to be on the hunt for opportunities to expand the Kingdom and to do the will and work of the Lord.

I once heard a tape by the late and the great John Osteen. He said that the word "seek" in the Greek meant "to seek and keep on seeking." He said the same for "ask." We are to ask and keep on asking.

We are to knock and to keep on knocking. Jesus is instructing us to stay diligent in our pursuit of things. We are not to take second best or to take no for an answer when it comes to receiving the promises of God in a very experiential way.

However, many believers think that the only way that opportunity comes is by spending time alone in a prayer closet or in meditation. It is true that God can speak to you in a prayer closet and when you are alone, but I have learned through reading the Bible that God speaks to you most clearly about things that you are familiar with.

The Master Communicator
God will give you ideas that are witty and truly ingenious in areas that you have a vocabulary to understand. He is going to speak to you through your life experiences and through your surroundings because that is where your greatest understanding is.

If you are a seeker then you qualify in God's kingdom to find things out...even mysteries. So begin to look around where you work. Read books about the industry that you are in.

Pay close attention to the different frustrations and struggles that go on in that climate and begin to pay attention to them from the standpoint of a problem solver. You see, this is who the Holy Spirit is. He is a problem solver and a burden remover.

If you want to fellowship with God then begin to think the way He does. Every obstacle and frustration is a problem to someone. If you can, through the Holy Spirit, solve that problem you will make yourself very valuable.

There are opportunities at work and God can speak to you there. Another place that God can speak to you is through your training. If you have any expertise or education that is lying dormant, wake it up.

See how that old discipline applies to the life that you are leading now. Most likely you have worked very hard to learn some things that you haven't paid attention to and God can speak to you through that vocabulary as well.

If for some reason, you think God is trying to get information to you about something that you have no clue about or no experience in, I doubt that God is speaking to you. There are rare exceptions but for the most part, God doesn't operate that way. He will use what you know and add the anointing to it to bring you to a place of higher productivity and problem solving.

Be curious about things and surround yourself with people who are curious. Be a learner and spend as little time on the couch in front of the television as possible. If you want to change your financial status in life, you are going to have to do some things that most people won't do; you must investigate and research.

Curious people are industrious; they are not lazy. Head to the library and read. Head to craft shows and trade shows to see what the most recent developments are in your field of interest.

Follow What's Inside
Finally, if you want to seize opportunity and move out of your rut, trust your gut. Your intuition is often a great indicator. This inner voice is powerful and if you are filled with the Holy Spirit, then you have a major advantage.

Don't be afraid to follow your heart. Understand that you are going to make mistakes, but adopt the discipline to clean up your mistakes right away and nurture the decisions and investments that produce.

Let's review: God will speak to you in your language:
  • through your work experience
  • through your education
  • because you are curious
  • through your intuition, if you trust it
These are not the only ways, but this is a start! Stay tuned....

I believe that we are in the time of the great harvest. So get ready to identify and act on some God-given opportunities.
