The same thing is true for us as believers as it was with Jesus: If we'll just believe the Word of God and obey Him, we can have the sweetest, most restful life imaginable, and kick the stuffing out of the devil while we're at it!

I realize that's hard for some Christians to swallow. They've been so brainwashed with religious tradition over the years that real spiritual truth goes down hard.

They can't imagine how they could ever live like Jesus did. After all, He was Jesus! They're unworthy worms! They're just old sinners saved by grace.

The Bible vs. Religion
That's what religion has told them. But that's not what the Bible tells us. It says we're united with Jesus. We are one Body with Him. As Hebrews 2:11 says, "... both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren."

You can live in Jesus' own rest because, if you've made Him Lord of your life, you're one with Him. The New Testament says again and again, you are in Him. That means you are everything to God that Jesus is. You have His Name. You're washed in His blood. You're in His house.

God loves you every bit as much as He loves Jesus (John 17:23). It seems almost unthinkable, but it's true. And if God loves us just like He loves Jesus, if He's given us His Word, and His anointing, what could we possibly have to worry about?

Nothing, man! Absolutely nothing!

Since we're one with Jesus, we ought to be acting just like Jesus acts. We ought to be living just like He lives. Do you think He's running around heaven, wringing His hands with worry? Do you think He's looking at circumstances down here on earth saying, "Oh, no. It's looking really bad on earth. I'm not sure God will be able to pull off His plan now. I'm not sure His plan is going to turn out the way He said."

Hardly!

The Bible says God sits in the heavens and laughs at His enemies. He's not worried, He's laughing—and Jesus is right beside Him. Hebrews 10:12-13 shows us exactly what He is doing: "But this man (Jesus), after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool."

Jesus is sitting down, expecting! He is at rest, expecting everything to turn out exactly as God has said.

That's exactly what we need to be doing. God has "raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus" (Eph. 2:6).

So we don't have any more business wringing our hands than Jesus Himself does! We should be at rest, expecting the devil and all his works to be put under our feet!
