There is no magic formula for success. But God's Word does contain some principles and precepts that, when diligently applied, help you experience increase, blessing, and promotion. While not a comprehensive list, I've outlined some of the most important ones below.

Give Complacency the Cold Shoulder
When it comes to winning in life, are you hot, cold, or somewhere in between? A famous preacher was known for saying, "I've come to comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable."

What's so wrong with being comfortable? It can rob you of your passion to achieve excellence in every area of your life. Jesus said it this way in Revelation, chapter 3, "I wish you were either cold or hot, but you are neither, you are lukewarm."

When you're cold, you at least are aware that you need heat. But when you're only lukewarm, you're in danger of becoming satisfied with the status quo. Check your temperature. If you're lukewarm and comfortable, start heating up your passion for winning God's way.

Be A Bull Dog
We call it perseverance. The Bible calls it endurance. Whatever you call it, it's a vital mark of those who win in every area of life. Calvin Coolidge once said, "Nothing can take the place of perseverance. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent.

Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination are omnipotent. The slogan "press on" has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.

Take an Integrity Inventory
The great evangelist Dwight L. Moody once said, "Character is what you are in the dark." One of the major differences between those who have a form of success and those who truly win in every area of life is character.

It's possible to lie, cheat and steal your way into a form of prosperity. But it's an empty and fleeting type of success. You can't build a winning life without strong personal character. That means being the kind of person who does the right thing, when doing the right thing is the hardest thing of all to do.

The rewards of strong character are great. Proverbs 2:7 says, "God is a shield to those who walk in integrity."

Be Lion Brave
You won't find many cowardly lions in the winner's circle. If you want to experience consistent success and fulfillment in this life, one of the most valuable characteristics you can cultivate is courage. Courage gives you the ability to face difficult circumstances and challenging times. It gives you the boldness to take calculated risks and the ability to think clearly when others are panicking.

Andrew Jackson once said, "One man with courage makes a majority." Of course, it's easier to be courageous when you know you're on the right side and that God is backing you up. That's why Proverbs says, "The righteous are as bold as a lion."

Pursue a Powerful Purpose
Few people achieve the level of success of which they are capable. Why? Because they lack the vital ingredient of "purpose."

In 1872, the great British Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli made this statement. "The secret of success is constancy of purpose." He may not have known it, but when he made that statement, he was speaking a biblical truth. In Philippians 2:2, we are commanded to be "united in spirit, intent on one purpose."

Throughout the Bible, we see that the men and women who achieve great things do so by making God's purpose, their purpose.

Discover God's purpose for your life then pursue it single-mindedly. Cultivate these attributes and you'll find yourself winning on the job and experiencing increase in every area of life.
