Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like: He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.
(Luke 6:47-48)
Many people read this and think, “The rock is Jesus,” but the rock is not Jesus. The rock in this passage is the result of hearing and doing the sayings of Jesus.

Notice that both of the individuals in this passage are assailed with a storm. The stream beats vehemently against both of their houses, but only one was wiped out. If you live long enough, you will have some streams beat vehemently against your house. Whether or not the ruin of it is great or whether or not it can't be brought down will depend on what you have deposited and what you have done.

Most Christians wait until they have a problem to get in gear to combat it. This is not wise! Don't wait for the storm to come before you act! It’s not impossible to build a house in the middle of the storm, but it is really difficult to do so. For most people, it is too late, and they need a miracle.

God doesn’t intend for you to live your life expecting miraculous things to happen every day. You are supposed to live a life that is in line with God's Word, following God's system, the Kingdom of God. If you do so, you won’t need a miracle all the time because your life will be one continuous blessing.

Prayer for Today
Father, You have blessed me in all ways. Thank you for being my strong rock and high tower. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
