A trait you will almost always see in someone who enjoys the many benefits of living in God's presence is a lifestyle of praise.

People whose first instinct in any crisis is to praise God are people who have instant access to the delivering presence of God.

We see a classic example of this in Acts, chapter 16, when Paul and Silas were in prison:

And when they had laid many stripes upon them, they cast them into prison, charging the jailor to keep them safely:

Who, having received such a charge, thrust them into the inner prison, and made their feet fast in the stocks. And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.
(Acts 16:23-25)
Put yourself in Paul's place for a moment. You have just been falsely accused, beaten viciously with a whip and thrown into a dark sewer of a dungeon with irons cutting into your legs.

Would your first instinct be to sing some praise songs? Probably not. But that's what Paul and Silas did.

How did God respond to their songs of praise?
And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one's bands were loosed.
(Acts 16:26)
Notice that Paul's deliverance came suddenly. That's the nature of praise. It will bring God into your situation instantly.

You may be in a different kind of prison today. You may be imprisoned by debt, by alcohol, by sickness, by fear. If you will stay in God's presence through praise, you will find God showing Himself strong on your behalf to break you out of that situation.
