"And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord" (Eph 6:4).

In today's society, Christian education for children is a welcome support to Christian families.  As parents, we are here to foster vocational and intellectual provision for our children.  That means that we have to make sure we don't put our children in a school just because it's the nearest one to our home.

Find out if it is the best school for your child. If it isn't, then do whatever you need to do to get them to the best school, whether it's moving out of that community, putting them in private school, or whatever other option you may have.

Then once you have found the right school, it is important that parents go to parent teacher conferences. We send our children to school and don't know what is going on there. We don't even look at their books. In many cases the children can't bring the books home.

They could be teaching your children something against your value system.

If you spend about 15 minutes a day with your children, and the school spends about eight hours with them, how do you think they are going to grow up? They're going to grow up with what the school's value system teaches them. So that's why you have to spend time making sure that the school is agreeing with your values.

We as parents need to get involved. If you're not married or you're married and you don't have children yet, you have to realize when you decide that it's time to have children, there are some turns your life will take because of your responsibility to your children. You can't just bring them into the world and let them go.

Find out what is in the child's spirit concerning their vocation in life. Help them to develop what they want to do with their life. And even though children change their desires, don't fight them. Allow them to sort out, prayerfully, what they want to do in life, as you guide them in the right direction.

They will then grow to see the Holy Spirit, not as a tyrant, but as a gentle guide, knowing that He has their best interest at heart.
