"Let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will know what God wants you to do, and you will know how good and pleasing and perfect his will really is" (Rom. 12:2).

I was fifteen the day I opened my yearbook and read, "Voted least likely to succeed—Kate McVeigh." Tears flowed as I cried out, "God, if You don't do something, I'm going to kill myself."

From the fifth grade, I had been in classes for slow learners. The other kids made fun of me, calling me "Sped" because I was enrolled in Special Education. I developed an overwhelming inferiority complex and imagined myself to be a hopeless loser.

Then, one day I attended one of Kenneth Hagin's meetings. His message offered something completely new to me—hope. I was saved and filled with the Holy Spirit, and immediately a great weight lifted off my shoulders.

Depression and fear, which had been my constant companions, were gone. The thoughts of suicide were also gone.

Soon I learned about claiming favor in every area of life. I began to see who God says I am in His Word and refused to think about myself in any other way. It wasn't long before people took notice.

My teachers were shocked by the improvement in my academic performance. I was even voted Most Valuable Player on the basketball team, whereas before, my hands quivered so much from fear that I was rarely allowed to play.

God's Word is powerful. It literally transformed me from the inside out. His Word will transform you too.1
