I know that the Bible teaches that we are to love our fellow Christians. Is it possible to love and still confront them regarding their actions towards me?

Many Christians believe they can't walk in love and still be honest with people through the process of confrontation. This is not true. The Bible actually teaches us that we should confront our brothers and sisters in the Lord. If a Christian offends us, we should let him know that we were hurt by his actions.

Let's take a look at Jesus' instructions about our relationships with others:
Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.
(Matt. 18:15)
Jesus is instructing us to confront our brothers and sisters when we are offended by them. We are not to tell anyone else how hurt we are. We should go to the person who offended us and tell him how he hurt us. This should be done privately. This type of confrontation must be done with the right attitude.

We must confront our Christian brothers and sisters because we love them and care about them. We're not confronting them to give them a piece of our mind, but to honestly share our hurt feelings and to work at keeping peace in our relationships.

The Word of God teaches us the way to have harmonious relationships with one another. If we're going to have strong relationships with one another, we must be willing to speak the truth to each other.
