When Moses stumbled across a burning bush in the Negev, God asked him, "What do you have in your hand?" Moses looked down and saw his shepherd's staff. Then God said, "Throw it down!" He obeyed, and it became alive, and with that empowering God used Moses to lead His children out of bondage in Egypt.

God still asks, "What do you have in your hand?" Most of the time we clutch our fists around what we think is ours, when in reality all that we have is a gift, a stewardship, from God. But each of us has three things:
  • Time
  • Talents
  • Resources
The time we have is perfectly equal: 60 seconds per minute, and 60 minutes per hour, but when it comes to talents and resources, they differ.

Yet God wants you to acknowledge these, too, are a gift from Him to be used, never to be abused.

There is a worship chorus that goes, "If God can use anything, He can use me!" That's the story of 2,000 years of God's work and also the story of Guidelines as well. Instead of waiting for the perfect opportunity, we move ahead, giving Him our very best and trusting Him to do what only He can do.

He does, too! During one month of our ministry a few years ago, we received the first copy of Heroes printed in Korean. Darlene finished her second series of 30 two-minute spots, based on her book, "Encouraging Words for Women" (for radio).

We received requests from a publisher in Cambodia to translate and print some of our books. We began preparing for ministry in the Philippines, China, Myanmar, and Cambodia. We were able to supply a laptop and an audiovisual projector for a start-up work in Myanmar. Hey, isn't God good? What a joy to see Him do what only He can do.

Honestly, I've never felt particularly talented or gifted (unless liking what God has called me to do is a gift or talent and working at it with everything I've got), yet striving to use what we have in our hands, we are quite amazed at what He does!

Thanks for your prayers, your gifts, and your friendship!
