Man was created to be just like God: a free will agent. In Genesis 2:16-17 we see that God established man's free will:
And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
(Gen. 2:16-17 KJV)
Had not God given this man an option, Adam would have been like a robot. He would have had no other choice but to live for God. But God wanted mankind to choose to serve Him because he loved Him.

In establishing the human will, God said if you disobey this commandment, you will surely die. Now the literal Greek says in dying you will surely die. In other words, you will first die spiritually and then you will die physically. Hence, when Adam ate the fruit, he died spiritually. He was separated from God. But God already had the plan to cause man to become spiritually alive once again.

In receiving Jesus as your Lord - when you become born again - you become spiritually alive. The most important thing you can do once you are born again is to develop your relationship with God. In developing that relationship you will grow up spiritually.

For example, if a person's phone was cut off they would have a hard time getting in touch with their friends. They would have to go through changes to contact anyone because the direct connection to them was cut off.

Now when Adam died spiritually, his direct connection to God was cut off, so God could not communicate with his man the way that he wanted to. Now God has to get His relationship established with His man again.

The direct connection between God and humankind is Jesus. God loved you so much that He gave His Son Jesus, that you would not perish but have everlasting life.

Won't you receive the Lord today? That would be the turning point in your life. Once you receive Him, then you will begin to experience the love He has for you. He doesn't want you to perish. He wants you to live forever with Him. Choose Jesus today.
