I have brought You glory on earth by finishing the work You gave me to do.
(John 17:4, NIV)
As the year comes to a close, can you see the finish line on the various deadlines, projects, assignments or goals you've had?

Recently, we've been motivating ourselves and encouraging our staff to get to the finish line on various projects and outstanding tasks. It's so easy to get started on things but the real test of stamina, focus and leadership is in finishing.

It always seems that there are more people at the starting line of a race than at the finish line. It takes a little more determination and intentionality to bring things to completion and to cross the finish line; nevertheless, when we make that extra effort to finish the work we've been given—it honors the Lord.

Have you been procrastinating? Forgetting to follow up and finish? Allowing loose ends to dangle? Researching and over-analyzing things for an extended period of time and never quite getting to the finish line on projects? With the remaining few days of the year, let me encourage you to get to the finish line on the things you have started.

Been meaning to finish painting a room? Do it!

Been allowing that stack of papers to stare you down for months? Go through it!

Been slow to finish up on an important task? Focus on it!

Been meaning to get to that? Get there!

Been dreaming about graduation and that party in the garage? Finish strong!

Been running behind on projects, deadlines, tasks at home or work? Push through the pain and finish!

When you cross that finish line—you'll feel the exhilaration of a job well done! You'll have a great sense of accomplishment! You'll probably make people around you happy. So do it—get to the finish line!

Then…start a new race next year!

Say it:
Father, I want to get to the finish line in several areas. Like Jesus, my 'meat is to do Your will and to finish Your work.' I ask for Your grace to help me complete the things I have started. In Jesus' Name. Amen.
