"And when ye will offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving unto the Lord, offer it at your own will" (Lev. 22:29).

Why does God desire for us to be a thankful people? For the same reason the devil strives to convince us to forget God's blessing and promise in our lives: Thankfulness brings triumph.

For the most part, it is easy to give thanks for those promises that have come to pass or those miracles that have manifested. But what about those promises you have held fast to for some time? What about those doors to you've been waiting for to open that you know belong to you?

Give thanks by faith—this type of thanksgiving will bring triumph.

In Psalm 119:62, we find, "At midnight I will rise to give thanks unto thee because of thy righteous judgments."

Have you ever been up at midnight? It is the darkest time of night. The light and newness of the previous morning seem so long ago; the next sunrise seems so far away.

In the midnight hour of your life, when it appears the darkest and the light of an answer seems so out of reach, give thanks. Rise up with a thankful heart, because God's Word declares that He wills for you to have the best.

A Sacrifice of Thanksgiving
You will not feel like giving thanks—every fiber of your carnal nature will scream that you are wasting your time, but as you allow your spirit to declare the sacrifice of thanksgiving, things will begin to turn around.

The situation has no choice, and there can be no other result, when we give thanks to God. He honors your sacrifice and declares His righteous judgment in your favor.

As we approach Thanksgiving Day, give God glory for His benefits that have already been received, but make this a day of greater victory by giving thanks to God for those promises and provisions that have yet to come forth.

You may be at a dark time in your life when you are asking the question, "What do I have to be thankful for?" It is during this time that you can focus on God's Word—it cannot fail.

This powerful principle is found in Psalm chapter 67:
Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee. Then shall the earth yield her increase; and God, even our own God, shall bless us.
(Ps. 67:5-6)
With these things in mind, at your own will, give thanks to God. According to His Word, you can prepare for the earth to yield its increase and your life will be blessed.

Thanksgiving brings triumph!
