And while they were there, the time came for her delivery, and she gave birth to her Son, her Firstborn; and she wrapped Him in swaddling clothes and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room or place for them in the inn.
(Luke 2:6-7)
As I was reading this passage of scripture the phrase "no room for them in the inn" leaped off the page.

Isn't it interesting that there was no room in the inn for Jesus at the time of His birth and it seems, today, there is still no room for Jesus in the midst of all the hustle and bustle surrounding the "spirit of Christmas"?

Something is always in the way of His presence. Christmas is about the very one who came to save us from our sins - a celebration of His birth - and yet, there is no time in the world's busy schedule to really give room for Him to be born into their hearts.

The Same Problem Still Exists
Why is it that there is never room for Jesus? Let's go on to the next few verses:
And in that vicinity there were shepherds living (out under the open sky) in the field, watching (in shifts) over their flock by night. And behold, an angel of the Lord stood by them, and shone all about them, and they were terribly frightened. But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will come to all the people."
(Luke 2:8-10)
Just think, because these shepherds were in the field watching, they heard. Do you suppose that we are to be watching?

Could it be that even in this season as others are going about their busy holiday shopping, that possibly the Father is looking for a few shepherds who are watching and listening so He can speak?

If the shepherds had not been watching quite possibly they would have missed the news and not have been given instructions on where to find the Savior. Because they heard, they knew where to find "the baby wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in the manger."

Make Room For Him
I don't know about anyone else, but I have determined this Christmas season I will make room for Him, and I will be a watcher and a listener.

Is there something on your heart, Father? Is there a secret or two you might want to share? Jesus, I have prepared a place for you to come.
Then suddenly there appeared with the angel an army of the troops of heaven (a heavenly knighthood) praising God and saying, Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace among men with whom He is well pleased.
(Luke 2:13-14)
How would you like your home to be filled with the Glory of His Presence? I firmly believe that as we sit, wait, watch, and listen, the presence of God will begin to fill our heart and soul.

He is longing to be with His children. He is longing to pour out His Glory on a people who are set in position to be with Him. The Savior truly is coming again.

Will we be in a position to make room for Him? Will we be watching and waiting? Or will He find us so busy with the festivities that He came and we never saw?

I am sensing such an anointing on this Word as I write. I believe this truly is a Word in season for us as the church. We must set the example. Will you join me this month and be a shepherd? Let's watch together.

I pray that the Glory of the Lord will fill your home and you, too, will hear the angels praising God and saying,
GLORY TO GOD IN THE HIGHEST AND ON EARTH, PEACE AND GOODWILL TO MEN.
It is our prayer here at Current Fire Ministries that your days will be filled with all of His fullness. Merry Christmas!
