Do you ever allow staff to cover mistakes with a lot of words?

King Solomon wrote, "Yet the fool multiplies words" (Eccl. 10:14 NASB).

Many business questions require a yes or no answer.

Often I have asked a question only to receive a long-winded reply that explains the situation but fails to answer the question.

Stop and reply that the question requires a yes or a no answer. Then insist on an answer before you allow the person to continue his or her story.

Wait as long as it takes for the answer.

You will get the answers you need for business success.
