Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.Did you know that God wants to use boys and girls to help bring people to Jesus? It's true! That's called evangelism and it's a very important job. In each family there are all types of jobs that have to be done.
(Mark 16:15)
There is the job of fixing meals, washing the car, mowing the grass, or vacuuming the carpets. Some jobs little kids can do, and some only the parents can do. Some jobs, like repairing the furnace, we have to call in special people to do.
Some jobs have to be done everyday, and others just once a week. Some are more important than others.
We, as born again believers, have been given an extremely important job to do. We've all been given this same responsibility, no matter what age we are - it doesn't matter to God. He gave us all the same job.
In fact, it is such an important assignment, that it was the very last thing Jesus told His disciples to do just before He went to heaven to sit at the right hand of God. The job is telling other people about Jesus.
Billions of People have Never Heard
It is very important to Jesus that as many people as possible have a chance to hear about how much He loves them. He wants each person in the world to know He died on the cross to forgive them of their sins.
Why does He want them to know this? Because the only way they can go to heaven and spend eternity with Jesus is if they ask Him to wash their sins away. Jesus wants as many people in heaven with Him as He can possibly get in. He'd take them all if He could, but He can only take the ones that receive Him.
It's a huge job, because there are billions of people in the world, and very few of them have ever heard of Jesus. The more people there are, the more Christians it's going to take to get the job done. Every person who's alive now, and all those yet to come, need the chance to accept Jesus. But they can only do that if they hear about His great love for them.
This huge job of telling people about Jesus has a name. We call it "The Great Commission." The Great Commission actually includes many things like healing the sick, casting out devils, speaking in new tongues, and more.
But the main thing the "Great Commission" is all about is telling people the good news that God loves them, Jesus died for them, and they have a home in heaven waiting for them if they will accept Jesus as their Savior.
Telling other people about Jesus is the most exciting adventure in the world!
