The Christmas season is upon us! God wants you to experience the miracle-like atmosphere of this time.

So, we must ask ourselves…is our focus on the miracle of Bethlehem, or does this time of year become BEDLAM for us?

Let me explain.

There was once an insane asylum in London called St. Mary of Bethlehem. Tourists could pay an admission fee and then enter the hospital to actually heckle the patients. Eventually, St. Mary of Bethlehem was shortened to Bethlehem and later pronounced "bedlam."

In time, the word "bedlam" came to refer and represent the noise and confusion that symbolized the insane asylum.

I want to give you three simple steps to make sure you enjoy the miracle of Bethlehem and ignore the commercial noise and confusion at the same time. The Bible tells us that God is not the author of confusion, but of peace among the saints (1 Cor. 14:33).

Here are three things that will help you enjoy the miracle of Christmas:
  1. Slow Down
The first step is to just slow down. Remember, if everything does not get done before December 25, God's plan for Your life will remain the same.

You are still a Child of God! You are victorious and Jesus is Lord. Too many times we allow the urgency of the moment to keep us from enjoying what we have. Enjoy the sights and sounds of this time. Go to a Christmas play, a concert, or just sit down and enjoy some peace and quiet.
  2. Evaluate Your Actions
As we slow down, then we need to evaluate our actions. What can I do differently from last year or previous years? How will I celebrate the season?

Take time this season to spend with your Heavenly Father and those in your life who are really important. Gifts, presents, and dinners are great, but they do not take the place of YOU!
  3. Listen for the Voice of God
To conclude the miracle of Christmas, we can listen for the voice of God! This time of year allows us to hear the message of glory loud and clear. Television programs, carols, even advertisements, proclaim the message of the Savior.

Be sensitive as the Holy Spirit may speak to you in a very unique way. Remember, a special messages from God (delivered through unique messengers) is how this all got started 2000 years ago.
