"Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations; according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be" (Rom. 4:18).

God wants you to be strong in the Lord—to progressively get stronger and stronger in Him everyday. There are many examples of people in the Bible who were strong in the Lord and Abraham was one of them.

The goal according to that which was spoken by God was that Abraham might become the father of many nations.

Now Abraham was old, and his wife's (Sara's) womb was dead. But the Bible says when all natural hope was gone, Abraham believed in hope. Certainly, nothing in the natural could get the job done.

You see, in the natural, their old bodies could not produce a child. But the strength that's in the Lord goes beyond the natural ability of the flesh. It's not limited to just what you can see, hear, touch, taste, smell, or what you think about it.

Notice what Abraham did: he took hold of the power that was outside of himself, outside of what he could figure out with his mind and strengthened himself in faith. Abraham being not weak in faith, considered not the deadness of Sara's womb.

So don't you consider the deadness of your bankbook, or your marriage, or your ministry. Don't consider your family relationship now dead, even though all these things may sure look like it—be strong in faith.

Abraham didn't stagger at the promises of God through unbelief. He was strong in faith, giving glory to God. Why? Because he was fully persuaded that what God had promised, he was able to perform. Are you fully persuaded that God will take care of every need in your life?

Abraham was fully persuaded. He knew it couldn't be done in the natural, but God promised him he would be the father of many nations. Still, each day their bodies got older and older, gradually decaying. But each day he grew stronger and stronger in faith.

Eventually, his seed and Sara's womb came alive. Despite the fact that they were too old and it should not have happened in the natural, God produced supernatural power in the physical and she became pregnant—but it began in the Spirit first.

It was through faith that it happened. So whatever is dead in your life now, can be raised from the dead. Progress in your spiritual strength; be strong in faith, using weapons that are mighty through God.
