In Hebrews, chapter 2, Paul says, "We ought to give more earnest heed to the things we have heard, lest at any time they should run out as a leaking vessel." The word "let" corresponds with the Greek translation, "to run out as a leaking vessel."

To illustrate this point, once I was driving on the road in the area of one of our old facilities. I was driving toward our new facility, which was under construction. I had driven less than a quarter of a mile when I saw a car pull over to my right.

I looked just for a minute to see what the driver was doing, and when I looked back at the road, there was an object right in front of my car, and there was no way I could keep from hitting it. Boom, boom, boom! As I went right over it I heard an awful scrape.

I thought, "Oh no. I hope I didn't tear up the underbody of my car." I kept on driving and got several miles down the road when I heard a familiar sound. I pulled over to the side of the road and got out of the car. I looked at the tire that was making the noise, and it was as flat as a pancake. Miles back the tire was punctured when I hit that object.

In other words, the tire didn't all at once become flat the minute I hit the object. The air had slowly leaked out, delaying me from arriving to my destination on time.

That's the way it is when spiritual truths get away from people. That is, they don't just go "kaboom!" The truths people learn simply leak out. And when the truths leak out it stops you from reaching your destination in God.

But when you hold on to the Word of God - all of the Word of God - and purpose not to let it slip away, you will reach your destination. Having a heart that is always ready to add more truth to what you already have will cause you to stop the leaks in your life and reach success in what God has called you to.
