“If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.”
We have our life in God by the Holy Spirit. We are born of the Spirit and are made alive in the Spirit the moment we accept Jesus as our Savior. Our spiritual journey begins. But a baby that is born and is now alive isn’t walking yet. To be alive in the Spirit is one thing, but to be walking in the Spirit takes time and growth.
The Message Bible says: “Since this is the kind of life we have chosen, the life of the Spirit, let us make sure that we do not just hold it as an idea in our heads or a sentiment in our hearts, but work out its implications in every detail of our lives.”
To walk in the Spirit simply means to walk according to the input that comes to us from that spiritual realm. We walk by the Spirit; we walk with the Spirit’s guidance. We are born of God and have His divine nature, so we then live our lives day by day in conformity to that divine nature.
We walk it out daily. Christianity isn’t just our creeds and our ceremonies; it’s our convictions and our conduct. Live and walk according to the input that comes to you by the Spirit of God.
I am alive in the Spirit through the new birth; therefore I walk in the Spirit as well.
