Let every one of us please his neighbor for his good to edification.
Paul’s message to Christians is that we have an obligation, a duty to perform for the people around us. We should think of their good and try to help them by doing what will make them stronger and more cared for. The problem with that assignment is we will need to be able to get past ourselves in order to bless someone else.
The Message Bible says: Each one of us needs to look after the good of the people around us, asking ourselves, “How can I help?”
It’s a servant’s heart that God is looking for. Our testimony of what Jesus has done for us will help build others up in the faith. But it takes more than just our words; it takes our actions of love and care, to get the point across. Become “others” minded. Invest your time into pleasing your neighbor for good and you will, in so doing, be pleasing God at the same time.
I take time to please my neighbor today
so that I may make his day. In this
God is well pleased with me.
