Reigning in Life

by Tim Davidson | A Verse A Day

“For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.”

(Rom. 5:17)

It is true that through the sin of Adam death began to rule us. But how much greater is the result of what was done by Jesus Christ! All who receive God’s abundant grace and are freely put in right relationship with Him will rule in this life through Christ.

The Message Bible says: If death got the upper hand through one man’s wrongdoing, can you imagine the breathtaking recovery life makes, sovereign life, in those who grasp with both hands this wildly extravagant life-gift, this grand setting-everything-right, that the one man Jesus Christ provides?

To reign means to rule like a king. Death used to rule us like a king because Adam had sinned. But that cannot compare to what Jesus Christ has done. God has been so kind to us, and has so accepted us that now we can live and rule like kings because of Jesus.

Today’s Thought to Take With You:

Even as death had power to rule over me because of sin, yet now, God much more has the right to rule over me because of Jesus.
