Sweet Perfume

by Tim Davidson | A Verse A Day

For we are a fragrance of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing.

(2 Cor. 2:15 NASB)

God thinks of us as a sweet perfume that brings the witness of Jesus to people we have contact with everywhere we go. One of two things will happen as a result. For people who are open to the Gospel, this perfume will have an engaging smell, and it will lead them to Jesus who will save them and give them a better life.

The Message Bible says: Because of Christ, we give off a sweet scent rising to God, which is recognized by those on the way of salvation—an aroma redolent with life.

But for people who are lost and closed to the Gospel, this fragrance is a bad smell. It will remind them of their lack of trust in Jesus and, unless they turn around, a horrible, eternal death awaits. We are to radiate Heaven?s aroma among those who are being saved and among those who are being lost. We don?t determine the outcome. We are simply the messengers. Jesus is the message.

Today’s Thought to Take With You:

I am sweet smelling incense that is offered by God to the world. I will let my life reveal the sweetness of Jesus.
