The Supernatural Edge

Did you know that the need to expand your capacity to manage complexity in order to prosper in your vocation does have some natural considerations?

Keeping your mind active, reading as much as you can, continuing to gather knowledge, and fostering the learning process—all of your life—and making a commitment to never stop learning are just a few examples.

These are all natural considerations that believers and non-believers alike can utilize to better manage complexity.

But, fortunately for the believer, we have more than natural strategies at our disposal. The Bible gives us a supernatural edge over people in the world, as far as managing complexity is concerned.

Look, for example, at Psalm 119:130: “The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.”

When you look up the Hebrew word translated simple in the concordance, you find two possible meanings. One is “foolish.” That’s what we think of when we read this: God’s words give understanding – to the guy who isn’t all there.

Of course, the Word of God certainly can give such a person some light and understanding, but that’s not the message I get from this verse.

Simplifying Our Lives
You see, the other possible meaning for this Hebrew word is “uncomplicated.” That would make our reading of the verse: “The entrance of thy words giveth light; it gives understanding unto the uncomplicated.”

This gives us a powerful incentive to manage complexity. God gives special wisdom and insight to those who simplify their lives.

When you violate the principles in God’s Word, life gets very complicated very quickly. Conversely, following the Word of God tends to uncomplicate your life.

In other words, applying the Word of God to every facet of life has the effect of helping you manage complexity so you can prosper in your leadership duties and responsibilities.
