Walking By Faith And Not By Sight

by Tim Davidson | A Verse A Day

“For we walk by faith, not by sight.”

(2 Cor. 5:7)

This scripture declares we are living a life of faith and not just a life made up of the elements we see. We are to regulate our thoughts, words, and deeds by our conviction that spiritual things are as real and important as natural things. Because we are in a relationship with the unseen God, we must include in our choices His Word concerning unseen realities of the world around us.

The Message Bible says: “It’s what we trust in but don’t yet see that keeps us going.”

Walking by faith requires our conduct to be tempered by trust in and appreciation for divine input that we can’t always see with our eyes at the time. We aren’t to order our Christian life around any of the other senses either. What we hear, see, taste, touch, or smell is always subject to change.

We must not order our decision process around how we feel. Our faith is never “blind” because it is built on the Word of God and God never changes or goes back on His Word or leaves us groping around for reality. So go ahead, walk but faith.

Today’s Thought to Take With You:

I choose to walk by faith and not by what I see, feel, think or hear.
