Whatever…

by Keith Butler | Uncategorized

“Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. These things I command you, that ye love one another” (John 15:16-17 KJV).

You get to ask for whatsoever only if you will do whatsoever. Do you see that covenant relationship? You ask whatsoever only when you do whatsoever. You do what God tells you, and He’ll do what you ask.

That is covenant, two people connected together at the hip. When one moves the other one moves. It is as though my wife and I were doing a two-step. When I go left, she goes left. When I go right, she goes right. Why is that? We are one, moving in the same direction.

The only way this thing flows is if we move together. See you are married to the Lord. And when He moves, you move. When He goes left, you go left. When He goes right, you go right. Whatever He tells you to do, you do. As a result of your obedience, whatever you ask He is going to do it. Hence, you’ve got to do whatever to get whatever.

God does this because you are His chosen vessel. He’ll do whatever to be a blessing to you. Jesus redeemed you so that your blessing would remain., and He said again that whatever you ask the Father He’ll give it to you. But notice what follows. You MUST walk in love with people. Every time you get around that word whatever, you are going to find that love must be in full operation in your life.

Again, God is going to give you whatever, but you are going to have to do whatever. That means you can’t stay in strife. That means you can’t hold back from what God is asking you to do, like preach or teach the word, or sing in the choir, or whatever He is leading you to do.

You can’t use the excuse that you may look bad in front of people. You must put God’s will first. It is about what God has put on you and in you to give to somebody else. So, be willing to do whatever so that you may receive whatever from God.

"There was the hiding of his power" (Hab. 3:4). Jesus did not work miracles on demand. When the Pharisees demanded a sign from Him, He refused them. I have often wondered, if Jesus were here today, would He be featured on the TV newscast? Would He be front-page...
