“A naughty person, a wicked man, walketh with a froward mouth…. Frowardness is in his heart, he deviseth mischief continually; he soweth discord. Therefore shall his calamity come suddenly; suddenly shall he be broken without remedy” (Prov. 6:12-15).
Over the years I’ve had people say to me, “Pastor, here I am, I’m living for God and obeying Him and you know, I’m having a lot of challenges. How is it that this person that’s not even living for God, is doing so well? Does it ever seem to you sometimes like the wicked are winning?”
Sometimes it seems that way. But don’t get fooled by that.
There are people who sow discord and will see calamity in their lives. The way you sow discord is by saying things that would divide relationships. Some folk are real good at it, too. Therefore this wicked man shall see his calamity suddenly—at once, hastily, instantly.
Just because the roof hasn’t fallen in doesn’t mean that they will not reap what they’ve sown. They may think that everything is all right. They say, ‘When I get ready, I’ll get right with God.’ But when you stay out there living wickedly, you put yourself in a position where calamity can come your way suddenly.
His calamity shall come suddenly. Suddenly he shall be broken without remedy. That means you can’t put Humpty Dumpty back together again. You might be going along living in sin, then suddenly at once the roof caves in.
It’s dangerous to live out there with the devil. I don’t care if you’re a teenager, 15 years old, thinking “I got plenty of years in front of me.” You might not. I’ve heard of kids out having a good time, and suddenly they wound up hitting a truck head on. Who knows if they were ready to go to eternity?
But when you are living for God, He will suddenly deliver you from accidents…God’s suddenly is greater than the devil’s suddenly.
Satan suddenly shows up with the trouble, and God suddenly makes an open door. Some things may come against you suddenly and tend to try to disorient you. But remember that the answer was there before the problem showed up, because God is the God with pre-vision, and He already has provision for you.
