You in Me and I in You

by Tim Davidson | A Verse A Day

“In that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in me, and I in you.”

(John 14:20 NASB)

When we accepted Jesus as our Savior and Lord some great things instantly took place. One of those was that Jesus came into our heart to live and, at the same time, we entered into Him that day. That is a two-sided relationship. He said, “You in Me and I in you.”

The Message Bible says: At that moment you will know absolutely that I’m in my Father, and you’re in me, and I’m in you.

We understand what it means for Jesus to come into our life, but what does it mean that we are in Him? It means we are born of God and we are in God’s family and belong there by birth, not by behavior. It’s just like any child born into any family; we have both legal and relational rights to the family treasure chest. I am born of God and therefore I belong in my Father’s family.

Today’s Thought to Take With You:

Jesus is my only way to get to the Father. I trust Him and He will see me through.
