The eye is like the "soul" window; if a window is clean and clear, light floods the room, the building, our lives, and everything around us. If the window is darkened, blacked out, dirty, or has not been cleaned in a while then no light can enter. In Matthew 22, Jesus is telling us the heart is like the eye of the spirit man within us
The lamp of the body is the eye; if therefore your eye is clear, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!
(Matt. 6:22-23)
You are the light of God to all those who know you! You are full of His light, and we should all be so very generous with everything within us, around us, and all things from the Father freely flowing through us to everyone with whom we meet.

The eye is like the "soul" window; if a window is clean and clear, light floods the room, the building, our lives, and everything around us. If the window is darkened, blacked out, dirty, or has not been cleaned in a while then no light can enter. In Matthew 22, Jesus is telling us the heart is like the eye of the spirit man within us. If our hearts are toward God, then our spirit being is filled with light, but if our hearts are toward the earth, things, what we need, what we don't have and treasures of this world system, we are not seeing into the realm of the spirit that is set up for our everyday way of living as Christians—Christ-like beings.

The Greek word for "clear" is from the root word that actually means "generous." When our hearts are generous, our entire spirit lives are be flooded with understanding, but it also works the other way. When the eye is not clear, it is "bad," dark, darkened, and clouded over with worry, fear, anxiety...those things that cause darkness in our thoughts. Our 'window' should be revealing the light of God is being filtered with darkness and dirt—stuff that we allow that should not be there.

The bad eye—or evil eye as some would say—is not allowing the light of God to come forth into our everyday thinking and being. Bad or evil eye in Greek means "grudgingly." Proverbs 28:22 says, "A man with an evil eye hastens after wealth."

Let me summarize it this way. How we handle our money, especially our giving, or our not giving, actually opens or closes the windows of heaven on our spiritual enlightenment! If I am a giver, then God gets His light into my life, my mind, my heart, my understanding, my revelation!

If we are not hearing the voice of God like we desire to, or if we are not getting revelation like others, but our hearts long to hear the voice of our Father, then we must check the condition of the window of our lives. Are you and I generous, prompt-to-do-it kind of givers? In this I am not talking strictly about money, even though when we hear "giving" we automatically go to thoughts of finances.

Giving is multifaceted, in dimensions beyond our comprehension! Giving is about everything, everywhere that is coming out of us! For instance, do you give mercy, grace, favor, light to others? Are you optimistic, giving off the character of, "I trust You Lord. Even when I don't understand with my head, I am optimistic that my Father has every day of my life in His Hands, and I trust You, my Lord!"

Or do you give judgment, doubt, distrust, misgivings, discomfort, suspicion, etc? Do you think of each person you meet as, "Lord, what would You have me give to them?" Many times the Lord would simply say to give them a happy face, a smile, a warm, "Hello, how are you today?"

Are you giving of the light of God that you have received in times past or are you more concerned and thinking only about what you need, your wants, your desires, what is happening that moment to you, for you, etc? Then you might check the condition of the window of your soul. The intent of our hearts will tell us the cleanliness of our windows!

Is life all about you, what you need, what you want, what you have or don't have? Then the answer to why you are not receiving great revelations from heaven could be that the window to your soul is too dark, too dirty and grimy with "self"! Yuck! But the opposite is true also. It is an easy fix, so to speak!

When we check the condition of our hearts, and our thoughts—when our lives are consumed with, "Lord, what can I do for You today? Lord, what can I do for others today? Lord I want to be used today and every day by You, to pour out Your love to others today! Let the light of Who You are shine forth from my life to all those around me!"

When our hearts and minds are a sparkling, clean, clear window to our soul, then out of our being we sow life, peace, wholeness, happiness, a giving and generous heart, a literal perceptive feeling to those around us of, "My life is all about Him, and that includes, 'What can I do for you today? What can I give you today?" A happy look, a peace-filled word, a hug, a smile, a simple 'Hello,' with the message that says, "I have time for you today, and so does my Father God!"

The more I give out through the clear and clean windows of my soul, the more I can expect to pour back into my soul, mind, and spirit of divine revelation, insight, wisdom, understanding, grace, mercy, favor, peace, blessing, which is the outpouring of His light into my life, through the clear window, the clean window of my generous, not grudging heart!

Obtaining revelation is about getting the windows of your soul open and clear before His throne, then watch out! The floods of His light, His glory, His revelation will begin to pour forth into you...and through you!

Cheryl Salem walked the runway to become Miss America 1980, despite what appeared to be all odds stacked against her. Poverty, sexual abuse, a horrific car crash that resulted in a physical handicap and over 100 stitches in her face were no match for what God had planned for her life. Through simple, childlike faith in Him, she overcame these insurmountable obstacles and eventually took the crown in Atlantic City! She has used this distinction as a springboard to launch the Gospel of Jesus Christ into churches, schools, women's retreats, television appearances, etc. Prison ministries, women's shelters, inner-city outreaches, and disaster relief programs have made use of Cheryl's books and CDs to offer hope and help to those in need. According to Cheryl, "None of these things would be possible, if not for my Jesus."
