Some time ago I read a book that suggested that, had Eve been more accountable to Adam, she may not have gotten into sin. I totally disagreed and I talked to God about the issue. After all, Adam wasn't forced to eat the forbidden fruit. What I received from the Lord was a lesson on being more accountable to my husband.

This type of accountability posed a problem to my contemporary way of thinking. My thoughts were, "I'm grown. Creflo's not my father. I don't need to tell him where I'm going and what time I'll be back." But God said, "Your relationship toward your husband is a reflection of your not wanting to be accountable to Me. If you will be accountable to Me, then you'll have no problem being accountable to him."

I  knew then that an attitude adjustment was in my future. I humbled myself to receive God's instructions and became more accountable to my husband. Pride is an enemy of accountability and will take you out of God's will. If you think you know it all, you are unteachable and your arrogance will put you to shame.

As evidenced by biblical and real-life examples, pride comes before destruction (Prov. 16:18). On the other hand, if we humble ourselves in obedience to God, we will please Him. And that is always our objective. You have a God-ordained responsibility to your husband.

He needs your support. I know that God holds me responsible for being Creflo's help (Gen. 2:18). With this in mind, I refuse to do anything that would hinder the successful completion of my assignment. Instead of nagging your husband, declare to God, and to yourself, that you will help him become better in his areas of challenge.

Ask him how you can be a good help and be willing to do what he says. If he says that he would like you to talk less and listen more, do it. Don't get an attitude and disregard his desires. Motivate him to become the man God called him to be.

I'm On My Way
Great things have been prepared for you and me. The only way to withdraw the virtue needed to accomplish our goals is to tap into the source that produces it - the Word of God. We've got to be willing to do what God says. It's like losing weight.

If you're like me, you're not excited about getting up early to do squats and sit-ups. Once you begin to see the results, however, you get over it because the benefits far out-weigh the challenges.

I encourage you to jot down the characteristics listed in Proverbs 31, pick a place to start, and just do it. I haven't completely arrived, but I'm on my way! I have learned that becoming a virtuous woman is not an impossible goal to attain.
