What are the seven trumpets in the book of Revelation (Apocalypse) referring to?

The Book of Revelation is revealing events that have not yet taken place. The seven trumpets are going to be blown by seven angels during the great tribulation period.

Each of the seven trumpets releases seven of fourteen plagues or judgments that will come upon the earth. These judgments are God's final way of dealing with rebellious men. During our current time period, God is calling men and women through the preaching of the Gospel. This is the "Age of Grace," not wrath.

During the seven-year tribulation period (a time of wrath), God is going to punish the remnant of mankind that has rejected Jesus. Notice what the Bible declares after six of the seven trumpets have been blown:
The rest of mankind that were not killed by these plagues still did not repent of the work of their hands; they did not stop worshipping demons, and idols of gold, silver, bronze, stone and wood - idols that cannot see or hear or walk. Nor did they repent of their murders, their magic arts, their sexual immorality or their thefts.
(Rev. 9:20-21)
God is a God of mercy. However, there's a day coming when He will pour out His wrath upon the earth (Revelation 6:17, 15:1,7). People will have an opportunity to accept Jesus during the great tribulation period, but many of their hearts will be hardened.

Now's the best time to become part of God's family (Rom. 10:8-17, Gal. 3:26). The Bible declares that we, the Christians, will miss the wrath to come (1 Thess. 5:1-9). If you would like to study the events connected with the seven trumpets for yourself, read Revelation, chapters eight through fourteen.
