When you follow Jesus, His Power is available to minister to your loved ones. The circumstances do not have any power over the Name of Jesus. They are not greater than the Word of God. The circumstances are not greater than the Holy Ghost.

What happens when you follow Jesus? Multiple blessings come your way. There are five definitions of the word follow I would like for you to keep in mind as we progress through this lesson. Follow means (1) to proceed or to come after; (2) to seek and obtain knowledge; (3) to accept as authority or to obey; (4) to copy after or to imitate; and (5) to keep your mind on.

Choose to Follow Jesus
Let's look at Mark 10:17-21:

And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, 'Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?' And Jesus said unto him, 'Why callest thou me good? There is none good but one, that is, God. Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother.' And he answered and said unto him, 'Master, all these have I observed from my youth.' Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, 'One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.

Jesus told this young man to come, take up the cross and follow me. In other words, come, obtain my knowledge. Come after Me - accept Me as the authority of your life and obey me. Come and copy after me, imitate me, and keep your mind on me.

If you keep reading you'll see in Mark 10:22 that the young man "was sad at that saying, and went away grieved: for he had great possessions." He chose not to follow the Lord. Because of his decision, he lost out on a number of things. I want to encourage you to continue to follow the Lord. Accept Him as the final authority.

Let's take a look at a few things that can happen when you follow Jesus. Matthew 8:14-15 reads: "And when Jesus was come into Peter's house, he saw his wife's mother laid, and sick of a fever. And he touched her hand, and the fever left her: and she arose, and ministered unto them."

One thing you get when you follow after Jesus is that Jesus will minister to your family and your spouse's family. When you follow Jesus, His power is available to minister to all of your loved ones.

Your family can be changed because of your following Jesus. Do you know that their disposition can be changed because of your following Jesus? Do you know that devils can be cast out of them because of your following Jesus? Their whole lives can be changed because of your following Jesus.

Jesus Will Move You Out of Your Comfort Zone
When you follow Jesus, sometimes you may have to move around. Following Jesus, you may have to go wherever He directs you. You may have to minister around the country. You may have to change your career. You will experience change when you follow Jesus.

Let the Dead Bury Their Dead
There is something else you're going to have to do if you're going to follow Jesus.

Matthew 8:21-22 says, "And another of his disciples said unto him, 'Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.' But Jesus said unto him, 'Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead.'"

If you're going to follow Jesus, you're going to have to leave the dead behind. Some of those folks you've been running with are dead.

You can't hang onto stuff that keeps you down, either. Forget the past. What was, was. You have to move forward. Let the dead bury their dead and follow Jesus. Keep your mind stayed on Him. If you do, the blessings will come your way.

Let's look at a few more passages of Scripture. Matthew 8:23-27 says:

And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples followed him. And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep. And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, 'Lord, save us: we perish.' And he saith unto them, 'Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith?' Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm. But the men marveled, saying, 'What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!

Sometimes when you follow Jesus, storms will arise in your life. Satan is going to test the level of your commitment. If you're going to follow Jesus, the devil might hit your money and your job. Your family and your children might get hit, too.

But if you keep following Jesus, if you keep your mind stayed on Him, God will cause everything to be calm for you. It'll be, "Peace be still," glory to God! The circumstances do not have any power over the Name of Jesus. They are not greater than the Word of God. The circumstances are not greater than the Holy Ghost. Greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.

So if you're experiencing some tests and trials right now, keep on following the Lord. If you follow Him, the blessings will come your way.
