Have you ever testified in court? If you have, you may remember the bailiff taking out a Bible for you to place your hand on. He asks you, "Do you swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth so help you?"
The reason this method is used is because there was a time in this country when the Holy Bible was considered to be the highest order in the universe. Consequently, your hand is on the Bible is recognizing the Word of God as the highest order. You are thus swearing by something that is higher than you are, stronger than you, mightier than you are. It is the Word of God.
Likewise, God made a covenant with Abraham by swearing by that Greater order—Himself. There is nothing greater than God. If His Word does not come to pass then He destroys Himself, and everything else would be destroyed.
If the world is still here and you are still here, then you know that God's Word is full of power and it still works. His Word is sure and it changes not.
Now God made a covenant with Abraham and his seed. His Seed is Jesus Christ, the Anointed One and His Anointing. How does that affect your life? Galatians 3:29 says, "And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise."
Abraham's covenant is your covenant if you have received Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior. If you have not, then you can ask Him to come into your life right now, and you will be in covenant with God.
Now, since His covenant is still in effect, and since His Word still works, then the Word is alive on your situation. Put the Word in your mouth and give God glory that the blessing shall come to pass in your life.
You can do this knowing that if God can give 99-year-old Abraham a baby, then He can give you and your spouse the baby you want. He can give you that job you need. He can give you the money you need. He can restore that child. He can heal your marriage.
He can do whatever you need Him to do, because you are in covenant with Him.
Give God praise because He swore by Himself and He keeps His covenant.
