Does the Bible teach that crime doesn't pay?

There are so many opportunities in our modern day society to make large amounts of money through a lifestyle of crime. Our youth are tempted by the copious amount of money that can be made through the selling of drugs. Theft, fraud, embezzlement, and other types of corrupt gain continue to lure men and women from every social status.

No matter how perfect a plan or scheme one devises in order to make illegal gains, the Bible declares that money made dishonestly can't be retained. The person who practices these things will eventually be plagued with misfortune and will lose all they've made. Let's look at three Scriptures that prove this fact.
Dishonest money dwindles away, but he who gathers money little by little makes it grow.... Misfortune pursues the sinner, but prosperity is the reward of the righteous. A good man leaves an inheritance for his children's children, but a sinner's wealth is stored up for the righteous.
(Prov. 13:11, 21-22)
Crime may pay for a season, but over the long-run, all that was gained dishonestly will be lost. I like what these three Scriptures say about the man or woman who decides to be honest and live right. Yes, the Bible does declare that crime doesn't pay.
