Death to the Christian is the greatest victory (1 Cor. 15:55-58). Death is when we leave our bodies and this earth behind and go to meet our Savior, Jesus. Notice how the Apostle Paul describes this:
Now we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands.... Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord. We live by faith, not by sight. When we leave this earth we go to be with the Lord! This is your final destination - if you've made Jesus your Lord (Rom. 10:8-13). Meditate on these verses and others that speak of life after death for the Christian, and fear will depart. Because we're going to heaven to meet Jesus at our death, Solomon wrote the following verses of scripture:
We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord. So we make it our goal to please him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it.
(2 Cor. 5:1, 6-9 NIV)
A good name is better than fine perfume, and the day of death better than the day of birth. It is better to go to a house of mourning than to go to a house of feasting, for death is the destiny of every man; the living should take this to heart.
