My husband spends so much time helping others that I don't feel the kids and I see him enough. He says that he can't say no. Is it right to say no to people when they ask for help?
The Bible teaches us to lay our lives down for one another and to serve and bless each other (1 John 3:16; Gal. 5:13). The Bible also teaches us priorities and balance. The number one priority in our lives should be our relationship with God through prayer, Bible reading, and attending church services.
Then come our mate, children, job (source of income), and finally church work - including helping individuals. We should be involved in our local church and operating in our supernatural body gift as a servant (Rom. 12:1-8). We must also balance our lives by making sure that we don't put a lesser priority before a greater priority.
If your husband can only help one person instead of two or three etc., then that's where he must draw the line. God wants us to meet the higher priorities first. It is not hard to balance our lives when we understand the priorities of God.
There are times when I have to slow down my work and ministry time to others so that I can spend more time with my wife or children. Your husband has to realize the completion of the work of God doesn't depend wholly on him. He must do his part and allow God to deal with others to do theirs (1 Cor. 12:12-31).
