When a man or a woman accepts Jesus as his or her Savior, they become children of God.
For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.Since all Christians are children of God, that makes us brothers and sisters. We all have the same Father and are spiritually related to one another.
(Gal. 3:26)
But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name.
(John 1:12)
We are encouraged in the Bible to continue to be close with our blood relatives as well as with our new spiritual family. The Bible specifically encourages us to love each other.
Notice what John states:
If someone says, "I love God," and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen? And this commandment we have from Him: that he who loves God must love his brother also.The Bible teaches us to love the brother who is a child of God and who we can see. This is one way of showing God how much we love Him.
Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves Him who begot also loves him who is begotten of Him. By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments.
(1 John 4:20-21, 5:1-2)
The only commandment Jesus gave the church was that we love one another. Christians are definitely spiritually related to one another.
