"And Saul sent to Jesse, saying, Let David, I pray thee, stand before me; for he hath found favour in my sight. And it came to pass, when the evil spirit from God was upon Saul, that David took an harp, and played with his hand: so Saul was refreshed, and was well, and the evil spirit departed from him" (1 Sam. 16:22-23 KJV).

In 1 Samuel 16:22-23 we see an account of David before he defeated Goliath. Notice what God did with David, a man who walked in His favor.

David was just a little shepherd boy, but he was recognized at the most unlikely times. While he was tending his father's sheep, he was the least likely candidate to be noticed by King Saul. Yet the king called upon him for service. In that we see the favor of God.

God gives you recognition when you seem to be the least likely one to get it. The person at the bottom of the rung of the hierarchy is the last person that the company president would know about. But as you diligently do your job in excellence, then you will have favor even in the sight of the president of the company, when the favor of God is upon you.

When your ways please God, He will give you favor. You might be at an entry-level position like the receptionist, or the janitor. You might be somebody that nobody else on the organizational chart will ever know, but God will cause the least likely person to somehow meet the person at the top and get promoted. Then doors will begin to open.

When God gives you favor, He opens doors and changes hearts and makes ways that no other man can make; and there's nothing that anyone can do about it. There's nothing the devil can do about it. So you may as well just laugh at the devil, and give God praise right now where you are seated.

I am a witness to that very thing. Back when there was a racial uproar in Las Angeles, California, I received a call from the President of the United States. I sat at the table at the White House counseling the President on what to do. Don't you tell me that God can't give you favor.

Here I am, the least likely to succeed, a black crispy boy from Detroit, sitting at the table with the President of the U.S., the most powerful man in the world. Now, that is the favor of God. And God wants to do the same for you.

The favor of God is more powerful that you know. But when you believe God, and stand honest before Him, His favor will be on your life.
