"Providing for honest things, not only in the sight of the Lord, but also in the sight of men" (2 Cor. 8:21).
You can have a successful dating relationship with the opposite sex when honesty is in the forefront. The only reason for dating is for the purpose of investigating whether or not this person can be your life partner - your spouse. When a single man, therefore, decides to date a woman, he should be honest from the beginning.
The worldly way is to date someone that you know is not your type. She is not what you want for the rest of your life, but you're lonely, so you're going to take her out.
She's thinking that you are serious. And if she's from Word of Faith she's probably quoting the Scripture, asking the Lord to help her with this deal. But you don't have any intentions. You are messing with her emotions and you are going to hurt this woman. You will damage your sister in the body of Christ, and probably ruin your own reputation.
Men of valor date because you have intentions on marrying her: i.e., you have checked her out from a distance. You've found out about her. You know it appears as though she might be the proper woman for you because you are now ready. You are emotionally, physically, spiritually, financially ready for a mate. Since she looks like who you want, you pray. That is a man of valor. That is a man of faith.
Then in all honesty you will say to her, "I'm here today. I don't know whether you are the one or not. I'm going to be honest with you from jump-street. I'm interested in finding out what you are about."
Now she knows from the beginning that you are serious. You're not going to waste her time. You're not going to play with her emotions. She may not get you, but you told her that.
But you are going to find out if she feels the same way. If not, move on. Instead of spending a lot of time with her, then later say, "I don't want to hurt her feelings. I've been going with her for two years." It doesn't take two years to find that out. You can know right away, because you prayed. You listen to the Holy Ghost. And you are honest from the start.
