Let's talk about how Jesus is the Passover Lamb. In Leviticus 23:4-5 it says, "These are the feasts of the LORD, holy convocations which you shall proclaim at their appointed times. On the fourteenth day of the first month at twilight is the Lord's Passover."

The Passover represents and memorializes the deliverance of the Hebrews out of slavery in Egypt. For approximately 430 years the Hebrews had been in Egypt in slavery and in bondage. God called Moses to deliver His people out of slavery and out of bondage and into the Promised Land or the land of promise.

That's what God has done today to you. God has called you out of the land of bondage, out of the land of slavery and into the land of promise. God has a covenant that He has made with you and He has signed that covenant in the blood of His Son, Jesus.

In Old Testament times God also had a covenant with man. The word testament means covenant, agreement or contract. This was called the old covenant, or the old agreement.

When Jesus showed up on the scene, He did not come to destroy the old covenant. However, He came to give us better promises based on a better covenant. "Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill" (Matt. 5:17).

The promises of God are not the covenant of God. Sometimes people get that confused. We have an agreement, a covenant, and on that foundation of that covenant there are promises.

In the old covenant, there were promises and under the new covenant, there are promises. But we have, according to the Word of God, a better set of promises based on a better covenant because of the blood of Jesus.
