Bound by chains, sitting in a cold prison cell, Paul wrote, “I have fought a good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith” (2 Tim. 4:7).
The word Paul used for fight is a Greek word from which we get our English word “agonize”! It’s strong stuff! The closer we get to the return of Jesus Christ, the greater will be the battle against evil! As John Piper wrote, “Life is war. That’s not all it is. But it is always that.”
He says prayer is a “wartime walkie-talkie” as the church advances against the powers of darkness — not a “domestic intercom to call upstairs for more comforts in the den.”
The further the family is removed from the biblical model, the more our culture will be like that of Sodom! I am appalled at the “gay marriages” and indifference of society towards all of this. Be strong in the battle for right and for God. Fight back with prayer!
