“And [add] to temperance patience”
Patience. Isn’t that what we want and we want it right now? Patience is the ability to stay steadfast and constant in life, even when things seem to be in a holding pattern. Patience is the characteristic of God’s divine nature that keeps us level headed and encouraged.
At times, we think that we should be on our own timetable. We want our victories and benefits to be handed over to us at our convenience. God has another plan. He provides patience. Things will work according to His timetable because He sees all things clearly and is always right on time.
The Message Bible says: ‘So don’t lose a minute in building on what you’ve been given, complementing your basic faith with…passionate patience….”
Endurance is another word for patience. Jesus said we are to endure all the way to the end. Paul said that he endured all things for the sake of others and that we are to endure hardness as good soldiers of Jesus Christ.
Patience is a power that enables us to be Christ like in our approach to life. With it we are unstoppable. Without it we are weak and always fussing about something. So add patience to your self-control.
I add patience to my faith. I know God always comes through for me right on time.
