Believe the Word, Not the Symptoms

by Mark Brazee | 365 Days of Healing, Devotions

“For we walk by faith, not by sight” (2 Cor. 5:7).

I once heard about a lady who was a member of a particular church and had a big, visible, cancerous growth on her face. Apparently she made a point of contact, praying and believing she received her healing. But there was no change in her appearance.

Later at a testimony service, this woman stood and said, “I want to thank God for healing me.” She sat down, and people started looking at her funny. The next Sunday, she stood and said, “I want to thank God for healing me.” This went on for several weeks.

Some people got upset about it, and one person said to her, “Everyone can see you’re not healed. You’re causing confusion. You can’t keep standing up telling people you’re healed.”

She went home that day and stood in front of the mirror. Then she prayed, “Now, Father, in Jesus’ name, I know I’m healed by the stripes of Jesus. I know what the Bible says, and I know I believe it. I’d sure appreciate it, though, if You’d get rid of these ugly symptoms.”

All of a sudden, while the woman was still standing in front of the mirror, that big cancer just fell off and hit the floor! She looked in the mirror. The area where the growth had been a moment before was now covered in fresh baby skin!

When we make a point of contact with God, believing we receive our answer, we may not immediately look different. But we don’t have to look different—we just have to believe what the Bible says and then say what we believe!

Confession:

Thank God, I’m healed! I know in my heart that when I prayed, my Father heard me and gave me the petition I asked for. I believe I have received my healing.
