“You have circled this mountain long enough. Now turn north” (Deut. 2:3 NASB).
Have you ever felt that you were going around in circles really getting nowhere? How would you feel discovering that you were leading two million people in forty laps around the same mountain?
This was the case with Moses. In His mercy, God intervened and told the people following Moses to stop their incessant circling and move onward.
Can you imagine some of the people actually enjoying the circuit? Through the years the path they took had become well marked and easily recognized. The predictability and familiarity made it easy for them to make another go-around.
I can ever hear some of them saying, “I like this mountain. I know what to avoid, what to look forward to, and what to expect. I have made friends all around this mountain and I am looking forward to seeing them again.”
One thing was wrong with the forty laps the people were making: they were not getting anywhere! The Lord ended the predictable routine by stating: “You have circled this mountain long enough; turn and go in another direction.”
It is time for you to break out of your rut. It is time to break the bubble. It is time for new dynamics, new dimensions, and new directions. You have been going around in circles long enough!
