Cleansing Water

by Dick Mills | The Spirit Filled Believer

“Because you would forget your misery, and remember it as waters that have passed away” (Job 11:16 NKJV).

Here is a precious promise for us for the dislodging of every unpleasant memory we retain.

There is an ocean called the Sea of God’s Forgetfulness. There is a river that washes away all our transgressions. There is a fountain for sin and for uncleanness (Zech. 13:1).

All these images are given to us as a means of describing the current of cleansing water which washes away all our past sins, mistakes, traumas, and defeats. The tide carries them out and they are buried in the bottom of the ocean.

In Micah 7:19 the prophet says of his God: “…you will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea.” A famous evangelist of yesteryear stated, “When God cast all our sins into the bottom of the ocean. He put up a sign saying, ‘No fishing allowed!'”

You and I can forget our past failures, past traumas, past sins and mistakes. This verse assures us that they can be put out of sight and out of mind. The Lord promises us here to take the lid off our minds and to remove all the painful residue from our past life. Good thoughts can then replace miserable ones.

Serving the Lord offers us many benefits. Not the least of these is a peaceful mind to replace a troubled one.
