“And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great: and thou shalt be a blessing” (Gen 12:2 KJV).
God’s intent is not only to make you a member of His Kingdom and to make a great nation out of the family of God, but it is also God’s intention to empower you to prosper. It is God’s will for you to prosper.
God said to Abraham, I’ll make your name great, and you shall be a blessing (v. 2). In other words, God said “not only will I empower you to prosper, but you’ll be so blessed that you’ll be able to empower others to prosper.”
Deuteronomy 28 not only lists the blessings for obedience, (vv. 1-14), it also lists the curses that come upon you when you are disobedient. Galatians 3 says that Christ came to redeem you from the curse.
Thank God, you have been redeemed from the curse, but you have not been redeemed from the blessings! After reading what the blessings are, it is very easy to see that the will of God for you is to empower you to prosper. God wants to empower you to prosper.
So we know that the blessing began before the Law and continued through the Law. The Word of God tells us that we have a better covenant, established upon better promises. Jesus is the surety of a new covenant with better blessings.
Jesus did a miraculous thing in His life. He was born in the earth, and brought in a new and better covenant for His people. Then He died and defeated the devil for you. Three days later He was raised from the dead to make sure that you get all that you are supposed to get according to that covenant.
In other words, Jesus makes sure that the blessings of the old covenant or Old Testament are maintained in your life. The curses were done away with. And the blessings are yours to keep.
It is God’s will that you be empowered to prosper and to seal this deal. He gave you Jesus as a guarantee that you would get and maintain all that the Old Testament promised and much more. He has empowered you to prosper.
