Fact, Fiction, or Truth

by | Uncategorized

We live in a society that has adopted phrases throughout history such as, “If you can’t beat ’em, join ’em,” and “it doesn’t matter if you win or lose, it’s how you play the game.”

I have noticed in my lifetime, even after I was saved, that I still said some of these phrases from time to time. Until one day, I realized—I am in this world, but not of it!

I started to see myself living according to a different standard than the world’s. My standard is the Word of God! (Do not misunderstand me, I am aware of my responsibilities and necessity to obey the law, etc.)

The Word of God is the final authority regardless of what society, circumstances, the economy, etc. is doing to try to cause me to deviate from living according to this “standard of living” known as God’s Word. Come to think about it, if you play the “game of life” correctly by using the Word of God, you shouldn’t lose!

I would like to address another phrase society and some of the body of Christ has accepted: “It is neither fact, nor fiction.” I agree! It is neither fact nor fiction—It’s truth. In John 17:17, Jesus said, “Sanctify them through thy truth; thy Word is truth.” The Word of God is truth! It is a higher form of facts.

Let me use an illustration to expound further. The definition of fact is “something known with certainty.” The law of gravity is a certainty, but the law of force is a certainty also, but rather a higher law. The law of force when applied correctly supersedes the law of gravity thereby causing airplanes to be capable of flying.

The dictionary states that truth is “reality; actuality.” As Christians, the Word of God should be more real to us than our circumstances. We don’t deny our circumstances, but when they are contrary to God’s Word, we can deny them the right to exist in our lives.

The devil will try to make you imagine something that actually does not exist (fiction) in order to cause you to waver from the truth. Fiction is produced by imagination and is not based on facts.

As Christians, we face many circumstances, tests, and trials while living on this earth, such as sickness, lack, discouragement, etc. As I mentioned before, I am not implying that we should deny their existence because they are facts (things of certainty) that may be true.

However, it may be true (factual) that you are on the verge of bankruptcy, or have a terminal disease, but it’s not the truth! The truth (God’s Word) is a higher form of all fact and fiction.

The Bible states that if you continue in the truth, it will set you free (John 8:31-32). Free from what? If you are sick, continue in the truth of the healing scriptures and it will set you free from sickness!

Whatever area of scripture you continue in will set you free from any circumstances of fact or fiction in your life. So begin today to rise above your circumstances and be set free indeed by the truth.
