“Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall” (1 Cor. 10:12).
Several years ago, after I’d been walking in health for a number of years, allergy symptoms once again attacked my body. I started waking up in the middle of the night, sneezing off and on for hours.
So I began declaring, “Bless God, I stand on the Word. Thank God, I believe I’m healed!” Nothing happened. Then I said, “I rebuke these symptoms in Jesus’ name. Leave my body now!” Nothing happened. I cursed the symptoms and commanded them to go. And yet they stayed. I asked someone to agree with me for healing; still nothing happened.
I tried everything I knew to do—I pulled every lever, flipped every switch, pushed every button, pulled every knob—but got no better fast. Finally, I went to the Lord and said, “Dear God, I know You don’t miss it. It’s not Your fault; it’s mine. I’m missing it someplace. If You’ll tell me where it is, I’ll correct it.”
About that time, I was asked to minister on healing for a week in a Bible school. I hadn’t taught on healing for about a year and a half. And because I hadn’t been teaching on healing, I hadn’t been studying the subject either.
Well, faith cometh by hearing—and it goeth by not hearing! I had what you would call a faith deficit because I hadn’t kept my faith built up in the area of healing. The enemy made use of that weakness and strapped some symptoms on me.
Because I was going to teach on healing, I spent a week studying the subject from one to eight hours a day. The entire week I kept hearing, confessing and meditating on healing Scriptures.
Toward the end of the week, I asked my wife, Janet, “When did I stop sneezing?” I had been healed so fast that I didn’t even know I was healed! I was so busy enjoying my healing that I didn’t even notice when all the symptoms lifted! I heard and was healed!
Because I am His child, God gave me access to the power
in His Word. As I hear, believe and confess His Word,
it produces healing in my physical body.
