Faith that Passes Human Reasoning

by Keith Butler | The Anointed Word

“And when he was come in, he saith unto them, Why make ye this ado, and weep? The damsel is not dead, but sleepeth” (Mark 5:39 KJV).

There were times in Jesus ministry when He didn’t allow unbelief around Him. Such was the time when He went to raise Jairus’ daughter from the dead. He took with Him those that would believe that Jesus is the Anointed One who raises the dead.

Those who will believe bypass their own human reasoning and see God move miraculously in their life.

When Jesus went to deal with the spirit of death, there could be no contaminated faith around. There had to be only faith, pure and simple.

In Mark chapter 5:36 Jairus is told that his daughter was dead. But, “…As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe.”

Now that is absolutely unreasonable to your natural mind and emotions.

It’s One Or The Other, Baby
Right there I drew a line in my Bible right between the words afraid and only. Jesus was saying that you can only do one or the other. You can believe or you can be afraid. You can’t do both.

So Jesus headed for Jairus’ house with only three of His disciples. Mark 5:37, “And he suffered no man to follow him, save Peter, and James, and John the brother of James.” He took the ones that would believe in miracles.

They got to the house and saw everyone crying, and then Jesus made a statement of faith: “…Why make ye this ado, and weep? The damsel is not dead, but sleepeth. And they laughed him to scorn. But when he had put them all out….”

Sometimes You Have To ‘Put Them Out’
Imagine for a moment if you will, someone’s relative just died, and the whole family is at the house. They’re crying and carrying on as it normally happens. Then Jesus walks in and says, “What are you crying for. She’s not dead, she’s just sleep.” What is so funny?

Jesus, knowing they were in unbelief, put them all out. Then He took the parents of the girl and the three disciples into the room where the girl was. Now the parents had made a decision already to believe God. So, Jesus then took that little girl by the hand and told her “Rise daughter.” The girl got up. Praise God! She was alive and healed at 12 years of age.

It is when you decide to believe what God said that you will have victory. Even though the circumstances look bleak, you can believe God’s Word anyway. And when you believe the Word of God over your own human reasoning, you will have your desired result.
