For Those Behind Prison Walls …

by Kenneth Copeland | Articles, Christian Living

You may be an inmate. Or, you may be an accountant, a plumber or a homemaker. No matter who you are, it’s possible to be in a prison whether you’re locked in a cell or not. Whether you’re bound by metal bars or by compounding troubles, realize this: God wants you completely free from the inside out! If you want a way out of the prison you’re in, here is the best place to begin….

1. Start Where You Are Right Now
It doesn’t matter how you got where you are…the point is, you’re there right now. So start believing God from there. Don’t start from where you hope to be. Don’t start from where you used to be. Just get real with God. When you do, you’ll be freer where you are right now than you ever were when you were on the brink. You can be twice as honest today as you were dishonest at any time in your past. It’s true! All you need to do is start from where you’re walking right now.

2. Find Out Who You Are in Jesus Christ (the Anointed One and His Anointing)
What matters is not who you are, what you are or where you’ve been, but who you are now in Jesus. Through reading His Word, you can find out who you are now – a born-again child of God, an instrument of God’s arm. You can find out that you’re called and that you move and breathe in the Savior’s love.

I know one fellow who was saved in a Texas county jail right before he was sent to the state penitentiary. He discovered who he was in Jesus Christ (the Anointed One and His anointing) and it set him free. He said, “Praise God, I’m not going to prison. I’m going to Bible school!” Well, when they shut the prison door behind him, he dove into God’s Word and he became a Bible scholar and an expert in prayer. He still is today. In fact, he started pastoring a church…long before he was even supposed to be out of jail!

3. Learn How to Pray
No situation you can find yourself in disqualifies you from prayer. Prayer is available to everyone. Even sinners in the deepest of sin can still pray the prayer of repentance and make Jesus their Lord. The only situation from which there is no deliverance is the rebellious refusal to not pray at all. So learn how to pray and let the Spirit of God run things. You can be prosperous and free from bondage right in the middle of trouble all around you…because any man who learns to pray effectively is truly a free man.

It doesn’t matter what kind of situation you’re in – God wants you free! Just honestly lay everything out before Him and start praying and acting on His Word. You can be free indeed regardless of any situation you could ever face. Let God prove it to you today.
